CHAPTER NEWS

Hello South Mountain Members,
Our next Chapter meeting will be on Saturday, May 10th, at 3:00PM, at Meadowbrook Country Club.  After the meeting there will be a ride to Valentino's Restaurant for dinner.  Check your schedule and your credit card balance, and plan to join us for the meeting and ride afterward.  Also, don't forget that there is a ride every 4th Sunday of the month, leaving Meadowbrook at noon, sharp!  You can come early and have breakfast at Meadowbrook for a very low price.
Raffle tickets for the Vacation Cash Raffle are now available.  Bob will have them at the May meeting.  Please take a pack or two to sell.  The drawing will be at our picnic on July 19th at Meadowbrook.  For more information on the picnic, click on the ABATE Picnic link at the top of this page.
Speaking of the picnic, help is ALWAYS needed for Chapter sponsored events, so get in touch with Paul or Bill to see where you can help out.  We will need help at the gate and with keeping the food table filled.  The Picnic Committee needs donations of potato salad, macaroni or pasta salad and desserts.  If you can donate any of these items, please call me at 717-336-4025, or email me at southmtn@dejazzd.com  to let me know what you can bring.  We have flyers ready to advertise the picnic.  Call or email me and I'll send some out to you.  Tell your family and friends about the event! Please emphasize that it will be a family oriented activity.  There will even be games, with prizes, for the kiddies!  The Charity Auction will benefit the Holly Heilman Cancer fund, the organization that sponsors "Harleys for Holly" every year.  Although they will be providing auction items, additional donations of prize items would be welcome.  Dig around your closets and see if you can come up with anything that you no longer want, that is in good condition, that they may be able to use to raise funds for this important organization.  Just bring it along to a meeting, to the picnic, or if you just can't make it to a meeting before July 19th, or to the picnic but still want to donate, call or email me and we'll see if we can find someone to pick up your donation!
Have a great time out there on the roads this riding season!  Just remember to be careful, and don't drink and ride!

"LET'S ROLL" Memorial Ride 2006

Bob and I rode out to Somerset PA. Sunday, September 10th, to ride along with other riders to visit the Flight 93 Memorial at Shanksville. There were around two hundred bikers that showed up for the ride.  We all road in parade fashion from Somerset HD to the crash site.  At the site, Jayne Challinor spoke to the riders and a few family members of those who sacrificed their lives on Flight 93 in order to save others.  Following Jayne's few words, a prayer to remember the heros of Flight 93 was said. Kevin Snyder said a few words, and was joined by others reciting Psalm 23.  It was a memorable experience.   We must NEVER FORGET the day when terrorists killed thousands of innocent victims on our own soil because they hate Our Freedom, on 9/11/01.
